Very large hand-carved solid elm coffee table in a very minimalist and brutalist style, France, circa 1950.
Very atypical piece, exceptional not only for its large size and thick thickness, but also for the preciousness and quality of the wood used.
Indeed the table top is made of a single piece of elm wood coming directly from the multi-hundred-year-old trunk. It does not involve any assembly, gluing or carpentry work.
Regarding the feet, we have here a very beautiful work of carpentry and precision since each foot is assembled in the shape of a V.
